The passion for wine developed rapidly after these native Texans relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2000.  Their proximity to the Northern California wine country offered a unique opportunity to experience the wonders of wine culture on a frequent and consistent basis.  Once they caught the bug, their thirst for knowledge and experience proved insatiable pushing them to extend their wine explorations worldwide, including wine trips to: all of the major wine regions of California, Washington, Oregon, Texas, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Argentina and South Africa. 

After a 12-year career in the IT business consulting industry, the lure of the wine industry could be deferred no longer and, consequently, Ron enrolled in the Certified Wine Professional (CWP) program at the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, California culminating in a CWP certification (September, 2006).  

While building the business from the ground up, Ron has consulted on wine menus for local restaurants in Austin.  Ron is the managing partner and will be in the store during virtually every open business hour.  In addition to sharing the passion for wine, Jill brings the experience of a 12-year teaching career to Uncorked and will help focus on the educational and hospitality aspects of Uncorked’s best-in-class customer service model along with assisting in the day-to-day operations. 

Ron and Jill are very excited to bring this new wine experience home to Austin.  Come in anytime and meet the founders.
